The main purpose and mission of Alcoholics Anonymous members is to stay sober and help others achieve sobriety. So that even when someone has overcome their addiction, they stay within the fellowship and help others overcome their addiction, and this also keeps them from relapsing.
Our digital presence isn't replacing conversations, announcements, or text messages. It is organizing and extending our reach. Our improved click-through rate (from 3.94% to 7.29%) shows more suffering alcoholics are finding us online – a virtual hand reaching out when someone searches in their darkest hour.
This is 12th Step work in pixels and code. The principles remain unchanged; only the delivery method has evolved.
However, our virtual bulletin board and calendar need current information. When announcements stay trapped in meeting rooms or scattered through disparate text messages, we're only half-serving our primary purpose. The alcoholic searching at 2 AM can't hear what was said at Tuesday's meeting, but they can visit our website and be gifted with a chance for a new life in A.A.
Remember: the same Higher Power that works through a heartfelt share at a meeting can work through a well-maintained website. Let's ensure our digital doors are as welcoming and informative as our physical ones.

Language around anger management remains popular with high CTR
Our Announcements page serves as a central hub for AA events at all levels
Group activities, business meetings, etc. are collected in one place
This promotes unity and keeps our fellowship connected beyond just our local meetings
Meeting Accessibility ( implemented on https://www.aasanjuan.org/finding-aa-meeting-near-me-in-san-juan-puerto-rico )
Make "aa meetings near me" searches more effective by adding location-based metadata to our website. While these searches generate significant impressions (281), our CTR is only 1.07%.
Implement proper structured data markup for our meetings. This will help Google understand when and where our meetings take place, improving our visibility in local searches. (implemented)
Improve the mobile experience for meeting information by creating a simplified meeting finder that loads quickly on phones. Most people looking for meetings are on the go using mobile devices. (implemented)
Language Inclusion (in deference to our host country)
Create a simple language toggle button at the top of every page so visitors can switch between English and Spanish with one click. This is especially important for meeting information and newcomer resources.
Recovery Resources (implemented)
Develop dedicated pages for the prayers and AA concepts people are searching for. "St Francis Prayer AA" had 603 impressions but only 0.66% CTR, suggesting people aren't finding what they need on our site.
Create straightforward content about anger management in sobriety. Searches related to anger and "dubious luxury" continue to show strong interest with numerous variations appearing in our top searches.
To ensure our website contains the most current and comprehensive information, we need to improve how announcements and updates reach the web committee. Currently, there's a gap between what's announced at meetings and what appears on our website. Here's how we can address this:
Group Conscience Decision
All announcements shared at meetings should be automatically forwarded to the web committee. This helps keeps our entire group informed- especially helpful to members who don’t attend frequently. Leveraging our site for greater unity.
Technical Solution
Add a "Share Information" button on our homepage
Create a simple submission form that automatically emails content to our group email with "Share Information" in the subject line
Ensure the form requires minimal information to reduce barriers to sharing
Regular Reminders
Include a brief announcement at meetings: "Remember that announcements can be shared on our website by using the 'Share Information' button at aasanjuan.org or by emailing our group address"
Add a note to printed meeting formats reminding about the website submission process
Primary Purpose Focus
Frame this improved information sharing as directly fulfilling our primary purpose
Emphasize that many alcoholics first encounter AA through our website
Remind members that accurate, complete online information means more alcoholics can find the help they need
Content Development
Create a clear guide to "Spiritual Axioms" for newcomers (consistently high search volume)
Develop content around "Dubious luxury" concepts (837 impressions shows significant interest)
Add focused content on anger management in recovery (multiple related high-CTR searches) (implemented)
Technical Updates
Implement the structured data markup for our meetings to improve local search results (implemented)
Make our site more mobile-friendly, especially the meetings pages (implemented)
Add the "Share Information" button and submission form to improve information flow
Community Focus
Strengthen our San Juan presence through better location metadata (implemented)
Better serve both English and Spanish speakers with expanded bilingual content (pending)

We stay Honest about our purpose online. We remain Open-minded to new ways of carrying the message. We are Willing to use technology to reach the still-suffering alcoholic.
One day at a time, our digital presence helps newcomers and longtime members alike. Our Announcements page embodies AA's principle of unity.
For those questioning whether they belong in AA, our website can be that first handshake that says "Welcome, you are in the right place."
All event announcements that are shared at meetings should automatically be forwarded to the web committee at 12and12condado@gmail.com. This ensures our digital presence accurately reflects all current group information and extends our reach to alcoholics who may find us online first (which are the majority).
On the website, add a clear "Share Information" button on our homepage and Announcements page. It will link to a simple form with minimal required fields:
Event/Announcement Title
Date/Time
Location
Brief Description
Contact Email/Phone (for internal use/follow up)
Set the form to automatically send submissions to 12and12condado@gmail.com with the subject line "Share Information."
